The body of Frank Myers, the 16-year-old boy who was drowned in Sugar Lake, just across the state line, at Atchinson, Kan., will arrive here this morning. The deceased was the son of the late Alvah O. Myers. His mother resides at No. 1329 Douglas avenue. He was a half brother to Mrs. A. M. Robbins, No. 824 South Eleventh street, where the funeral will occur this morning. The details of the drowning as obtained from Mrs. Robbins last evening were as follows:
Frank Myers resided in this city with his parents until the death of his father, which occurred several months ago, when he went to live with Mrs. Robbins but soon left for Atchinson, where another half sister, named Mrs. J. W. Sampson, resided with her husband and family. He obtained employment in the notion store of Mr. Sampson, and made his home with the family. Last Sunday, he, in company with Mrs. Sampson, her children and a young lady, went over to Sugar Lake to spend the day fishing. The remains of Frank Myers, who was drowned near Atchinson, Kansas, while bathing last Sunday, will arrive in the city at 5 a.m. today, accompanied by E. E. Sampson. They will be taken to the home of the deceased's half sister, Mrs. A. M. Robbins, 824 South Eleventh street. The deceased was a resident of this city, living with his widowed mother at the corner of Fourteenth and Douglas streets. He was employed in the store of J. W. Sampson at Atchinson, with whose famiy he was residing. The funeral will take place today. The remains will be interred at Oak Ridge Cemetery. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL 7-9-1890
