Elizabeth Courtney, 91, Ottumwa

— OTTUMWA — Elizabeth "Liz" Courtney, 91, formerly of 315 Hamilton, died at 3:20 p.m. April 27, 2007 at Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born December 28, 1915 in Wapello County to Joseph E. and Minnie M. Owings Orman. She married Louis Courtney on December 30, 1940. He preceded her in death December 9, 1993.

She was a member of the John Deere Retirees, a supporter of 4-H and her grandchildren's activities.

Surviving are three sons, James (Sally) Courtney of Eldon, Jerry (Mae) Courtney of Eldon and Mike (Shirley) Courtney of Agency; a daughter-in-law, Jane of Rochester, Indiana; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and a brother, Archie Orman of Blakesburg.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Courtney; five brothers, Roy, Ray, Emery, Vernon and Eugene Orman and two sisters, Bertha McCarty and Edith Crist.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Gray officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the family present from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday.

A memorial has been established to the Cardinal High School A Club.
