OTTUMWA-Archie W. Orman, 94, of rural Blakesburg, died at 1:35 a.m. April 12, 2015 at his home.
He was born December 22, 1920 in Wapello County, IA to Joseph E. and Minnie M. Owings Orman. He married Letha Mae Batterson on January 24, 1942 and she preceded him in death on January 9, 1994.
A resident of southeast Iowa all of his life, he lived and farmed east of Blakesburg for the past 66 years. Archie loved to coyote hunt.
Surviving are two sons, (Son) Orman of Ottumwa, (Son) Orman of Hatch, UT; two daughters, (Daughter) Hindman of Albia, (Daughter) Owen of Ottumwa; a daughter-in-law, (Daughter) Orman of Blakesburg; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Kenneth Orman; five brothers, Roy, Ray, Emery, Vernon and Eugene Orman; three sisters, Bertha McCarty, Edith Crist and Lizzy Courtney.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Albert officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blakesburg Fire & Rescue.
