Gettysburg Compiler August 9, 1911

Christian G Byer, died last Wednesday at his home in Hagerstown from heart trouble and dropsy, aged about 71 years. He had bee in failing health for the past two years and had been confined to his bed for three weeks prior to his death. He passed away very peacefully. Mr. Byer was born near Gettysburg and moved to Hagerstown about 20 years ago, where he had been engaged in the grocery business up to the time of his death. He was married twice, his first wife being Miss Tillie Horner of Gettysburg, and his seccond wife Miss Estelle Rechter of Hagerstown. Besides his wife he is survived by the following children, all of which are by his first wife; Mrs. Grace Bikle, Mrs. Fannie Reichard and Mrs. Nellie Uhler of Hagerstown, Mrs. Alberta Shaw of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Minnie Drals of Fairfield Nevin C., of Mexico and William of Hagerstown. The remains were brought to Gettysburg and interment mane in the Evergreen Cemetery.
