Harland J. Yates, 90, of Fort Dodge, died Friday February 8, 2008 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home with the Rev. Marlin Stene officiating. Interment will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Walter Porsch VFW Post 1856. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Harland was born August 11, 1917 the son of John R. and Hazel E. (Archer) Yates in Burlington Junction, MO. On October 3, 1941 Harland was inducted into the United States Army. His commendations included 3 Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. Harland was honorably discharge on June 12, 1945.

On November 10, 1951 Harland was united in marriage to Gladys B. Stene in Jackson, MN.

Harland drove truck for Northwest Limestone and Decker Truck Lines for many years retiring in 1977. After his retirement Harland enjoyed his visits with the other members of the Ja-Mar coffee club.

Those thankful for having shared in Harland's life include his two sons; Gene Allen (JoAnn) Yates of Clare, Iowa, Rick (Napa) Yates of Jacksonville, AR, three sisters; Darlene Lowe, Joyce George, Pat Naven, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mr. Yates was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters; Virginia C. Yates, Audrey I. Yates, Janice M. Yates, Colleen Alberta Yates Sonnier, five brothers; Lloyd E. Yates, John R. Yates, Jr., Chesley A. Yates, Charles F. Yates and Donald Eugene Yates.
