Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28th in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. David Grindberg, Pastor of St. Olaf Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with a graveside flag presentation by the VFW Post 1856. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Monday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.
Surviving is his wife Lorraine; son, David of Vero Beach, FL; daughter, Debra Irving and her husband John of Pittsburg, PA; step-children, Rick Ishmael of Raytown, MO, Matthew Ishmael of Lewisville, TX, Lynn Yeschick and her husband Steve of Princeton, TX; a grandson, Steven Irving; 5 step-grandchildren; a brother, Harland (Bud) of Fort Dodge; sisters, Darlene Lowe, Joyce George and Pat Neavin, all of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Hazel (Archer) Yates; sisters, Sis, Audrey, Colleen and Janice; brothers, Pete, Jay, Nick and Chuck.
Donald E. Yates was born November 9, 1934 in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1953. Following his education, he entered the U.S. Air Force, serving in Germany. After his honorable discharge in 1957 he returned to Fort Dodge and became employed with his brothers at Northwest Limestone. On September 25, 1959 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Anne James in Blue Earth, MN and they established their home in Fort Dodge. In 1961 they moved to Alexandria, VA where he was employed for the Washington D.C. Fire Department. He worked there until his retirement in 1983. In 1991 they moved to Vero Beach, FL and Phyllis preceded him in death in 1996. On March 30, 2004 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Volkmer in Vero Beach, FL and they established their home there. In 2005 they moved to Fort Dodge.
