Transcribed Church Record, names in Latin (Catholic) -- mother Protestant, father Catholic:
Name: (Luise) Ludovica Helena Anslinger
Gender: Female
Baptism Age: 0
Birth Date: 28. November 1878
Baptism Date: 8. Dezember 1878
Baptism Place: Sankt Maria Katholisch, Neustadt (a/d Haardt), Pfalz, Bayern, Germany
Residence Place: Neustadt (a/d Haardt), Pfalz, Bayern, Germany
Father: Georgii Anslinger
Mother: Susannae Simon
FHL Film Number: 36773
Previously thought to have died in infancy when before this, Luise was unknown and unmentioned to her brother's granddaughters born in the 1940s who grew up in Neustadt, too, it now seems likely that Luise Helena Anslinger grew up, stayed near family in their hometown Neustadt, did not marry, but owned her own business and home. All three facts were a very big deal in the early 20th century of small town southwest Germany, a major accomplishment to have succeeded. The last listing of her in the "Neustadter Einwohnerbuch"(Inhabitants of Neustadt a/d H Book) is for 1935-36. (The listing matches the 1920-21 & 1925-26 books. See attached notated pictures of the pages from all three volumes.) Luise would have turned 58 in 1936. By age or by war tragedy, it is possible that Luise perished soon thereafter. Perhaps over the trauma, her grandnieces were not told of her.
Luise Anslinger was a professional "Modistin" (lady milliner), with her shop of "Spezialgeschäfte Damen= Mädchen= Kinderhüte" (Specialty Shop (for) Ladies, Girls, and Children's Hats), she also crafted the traditional exquisite "Brautkränze & Schleier" (wedding wreaths & veils). Luise's business was located on the Main Street shopping district, Hauptstraße #59. Today it's a telecom shop downstairs where she once had hers, the above floor of traditional Fachwerk (oak half-timbered style building) remains a home as when she resided there.
Luise's sister-in-law, Christina geb./née Sauer, "Ehefrau" (wife) of Georg Anslinger living at Gerichtstraße #4, a six minute walk from Luise, may have worked in compliment to Luise's business, as Christina was a "Damenschneiderin" (dressmaker). -- Christina's mention in the "Neustadter Einwohnerbuch" is as the "Mrs. of husband's name", whereas the unmarried Luise retained/earned the right to be listed under her own name in the book, and advertise boldly her own business.
