Eugen Ludwig Anslinger was born the youngest of 10 children in Neustadt an der Haardt (changed to Neustadt an der Weinstrasse 1930s) in the then Kingdom of Bavaria (Bayern) on 25 February 1885 to parents Georg Anslinger & Susanna geboren/née Simon. Six siblings died as infants or very young children. Eugen Anslinger & Anna Elisabetha Marschall married in Kaiserslautern on 18 April 1912 when he was 27 & she was 23. Anna Elisabetha was born in Steinbach, Landkreis Kaiserslautern in 1888, daughter of Georg Marschall & Karoline Klein. Eugen Anslinger's WWI entry for military service to the Kingdom of Bavaria 1914-1919 (only until 1918 for Eugen) states he and Anna had one child, and he was a Gentleman's Barber (Friseur) by trade. {In service, he was in an infantry military unit: "8. Bayern. Infanterie-Regimen."} On at least one of his WWI logs (he served many tours, and is recorded in many different log books) it states he resided in Kaiserslautern at Stiftsplatz #2. Eugen was 33 when he died in battle on 17 July 1918, and is remembered in his father's hometown of Sankt Martin on this memorial -- father Georg was sixth generation Anslinger from Sankt Martin since 1660s at least, before Georg moved to county seat of Neustadt 7km from Sankt Martin after his service in the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71) to marry in early 1873 and start a family in the larger town of more opportunity.

Eugen is not actually buried at the memorial. It's just a memorial. Unsure of where he is buried. In Kaiserslautern where he lived as an adult, in Neustadt where he grew up, or elsewhere (battlefield?)

Many of the other fallen on the memorial were cousins to the (2) Anslinger soldiers through at least 8 prior generations, all from Sankt Martin: (20) Christmann, (2) Fischer, (2) Gerau, (4) Platz, (4) Scherr, (4) Schmitt, (2) Schwab, (4) Willem -- And many more from all the families fought and survived.
