Reuben Thornton (1780-1815) was the son of George (c1741-81) and Mary Alexander Thornton (1756-1837), of Spotsylvania. He married in 1810, his third cousin, Anna Maria Washington (1788-1816). They settled in Wilkinson County, Miss. Their sons were Dr. Churchill Jones (1811-45) who married in 1840, Lucy Maria Beverley (c1823-97); and Charles Augustine Thornton (1813-86) who married in 1839, Cornelia Virginia Randolph (1819-49).
