Agnes L. Mash, of Flintstone, Md., formerly of Johnstown, Pa., passed away at home on May 3, 2022. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, William and Olga (Bryn) Labuda, as well as sister-in-law Nancy Labuda. Agnes was a loving mother to, and is survived by her sons, Nathan (Carrie) Mash of Flintstone, and Christian (Jessica) Mash of Oakland. Agnes was especially proud of her grandchildren: Emilee Mash, Aidan Mash, Oliver Fradiska, John Mash, and Abraham Mash. She is also survived by her siblings, Raymond (Susan) Labuda, of Akron; Janet (Rick) Bowser, of Johnstown, and Marie (Paul) Nikonow, of Johnstown. Agnes also enjoyed her times with her nephews, Robert (Elmira) Berezansky; Adam (Victoria) Berezansky; Paul (Jessica) Nikonow; Brian (Alaina) Nikonow; and David (Hannah) Nikonow. Born and raised in Johnstown, Agnes earned degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Agnes was proud to have worked as a school teacher in Allegany County Public Schools for nearly forty years. She had fond memories of students, friends, and co-workers during her teaching career. In retirement, Agnes volunteered as a Board Member for Ray of Hope. She enjoyed flowers, shopping, and jelly-donuts. Her hand-made Christmas wreaths adorned many local doors through the years, and she recently donated the Christmas tree for the Flintstone community's tree-lighting. A fan of traveling, Agnes particularly enjoyed "sister trips," the Beach, and a recent trip to Slovakia to visit her grandparents' birthplace. Most of all, Agnes loved her family - whom she treated with the most tremendous love and generosity. She will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held Friday, May 6th, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 15205 McMullen Hwy, Cresaptown, Md. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 7th, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Therese Church, Johnstown, Pa., with visitors received 1 hour prior to Mass. At Agnes' request, in lieu of floral arrangements, please direct contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
