LABUDA – William "Bill," 94, Johnstown, died Oct. 24, 2013, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born May 23, 1919, in Johnstown, son of John and Maria (Smik) Labuda. Preceded in death by parents; stepmother, Veronica Kulbak; wife, Olga (Bryn) Labuda; brothers, Vincent, John J., Edward A. and Robert Labuda; sisters, Ann Vargo and Frances Sabo; stepbrother, August Kulbak; and infant sister and brother, Agnes and John Labuda. Survived by children, Agnes Mash; Raymond, married to the former Nancy Phelps; Janet Berezansky, and special friend, Rick Bowser; and Marie, wife of Paul M. Nikonow; grandchildren, Nathan Mash, and wife, Jen; Christian Mash, and wife, Jessica; Robert Berezansky, and wife, Elmira Aleeva; Adam Berezansky; Paul Nikonow Jr., and girlfriend, Jessica Grech; Brian Nikonow, and girlfriend, Alaina Gibson; and David Nikonow, and girlfriend, Hannah Jean Ryan; great-grandchildren, Emilee Mash and John Elliot Mash; sisters, Margaret Midile; and Delores, wife of Paul Gresik; brother, Bernard Labuda, married to the former Martha McGilvery; and sisters-in-law, Georgetta (Dabbs) Labuda; Connie (Pingatore) Labuda; and Dorothy Maravelli; also brother-in-law, Frank Bryn. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including special and helpful nephew, Mark Friedman; and devoted and helpful neighbor, John Kovac. Bill was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, where he took care of planting the flowers, and was a member of the Holy Name Society, Ushers Club, Pinochle Club and organizer of the St. Therese Christmas and Easter party for the children. He also enjoyed organizing bus trips to the casinos. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; former owner of Bill's Amoco Station, Goucher Street; worked for Panico Mining Equipment; and in 2005, received an honorary high school diploma from Westmont Hilltop High School. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., 710 Broad St., where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Catholic Church, Father Bernard Karmanocky, OFM, officiating. Committal, St. Francis Cemetery.
