He was born October 15, 1943, in Carrollton, Georgia, the son of the late Edward (typo - should read Charles) A. Adams and the late Mamie Catherine (Phillips) Adams.
James enjoyed spending time with his family, Alabama football and softball and his many dogs over the years. One of his proudest moments in life is when he played football for Mt. Zion High School. He was a student-athlete from 1959-1962 and starred on the baseball, football, and basketball teams. He was a member of the 1961 State Champion Mt. Zion baseball team as well as a Beta Club member. James was proud to be elected to the Mt. Zion Athletic Hall of Fame later in life. Also, working with Kenneth Skinner as an umpire in Carroll County was an exciting time in his life.
He leaves to cherish his memory his oldest child, a daughter, Jamie Galindo; a son and daughter-in-law Charles and Paula Adams; grandsons, James Charles Adams (wife, Brooke), Brandon Dodson and Alex Galindo; sister and brother-in-law, Marion, and Dillard Henderson; and brother Paul Adams. James leaves behind many friends and family but was preceded in death by his 7 additional brothers.
A Gathering of Friends will be held Friday, October 28, 2022, from 4:00PM-5:00PM at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home.
In keeping with James' wishes, his body was cremated. His ashes will later be scattered as per his request.
Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel (Carrollton, GA) have charge of the arrangements.
