Wesley Dale Drilling, 78, Cissna Park, died 7:25 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton.
He was born March 21, 1929, in Cissna Park, the son of Wellington and Eunice Bishop Drilling.
He was a manager at Cissna Park Co-op Grain Elevator.
Mr. Drilling served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church - Ash Grove and Mens Club. He was a former elder and treasurer at the church. He was a member of and former commander and treasurer of Cissna Park American Legion, a former Cissna Park volunteer fireman and a Pigeon Grove Township auditor.
He enjoyed golfing and playing cards.
He married Ruth Cluver June 17, 1956, in Ash Grove. She survives in Cissna Park.
Also surviving are three sons and two daughter-in-law: Alan Drilling, Claytonville, Douglas and Barbara Drilling, Bloomington, and Mark and Darlene Drilling, O'Fallon, Mo.; one daughter and son-in-law: Patricia and Jeremy Motley, Rantoul, two brothers and sisters-in-law: Roy and Patricia Drilling, Woodland, Calif., and Glen and Jean Drilling, Buckley, two sisters: Doris Kogler, Claytonville, and Rosemary Letlow, Claytonville, one brother-in-law: Valorus Stouder, Winona Lake, Ind., one sister-in-law: Ellen Drilling, Cissna Park, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death both parents, one brother: Don Drilling and two sisters: Lois Stouder and Ethel Brantley.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. tomorrow at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park and one hour prior to the service at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ash Grove.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Kevin Wendorf officiating.
Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Ash Grove. Graveside rites will be accorded by Cissna Park American Legion Post #527.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Lutheran Hour or donor's choice.
