Jimmie Dale"Jim" Barnes was born July 19, 1939 to Ira Martin Barnes and Elva (Hodges) Barnes at Simon, OK.

He was raised in Simon where he worked in the peanut fields and attended school there until the 8th grade, graduating from Wilson High School.

Jim married Pearlene Dowdy August 27, 1960 in Wilson and made their home there.

He started working for Jim Herrell as a roustabout begining his career in the oilfield and at one point owned and operated Barnes Construction.

Jim enjoyed fishing and camping, and he loved gardening, listening to music, and watching westerns but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He served 20 years on the Wilson Fire Department and at one time as the Fire Chief. Jim had also served on the Wilson City Council and Chamber of Commerce.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Jim died at the age of 83 on October 12, 2022 in Sherman, TX.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Alma and J.W. Carlile and Almeta and Wilton Allen; and son in law, Wayne Barnett.

Jim is survived by his wife, Pearlene; children, Melanie Barnett, Keith Barnes and wife Melissa, Alan Barnes and wife Jodi and Amanda Cicio and husband Chris; grandchildren, Ashley Morse and husband Cody, Sean Barnes, Jacob Barnes, Katy Barnes, Alysha Clift and husband Kent, Hailey Cicio and Connor Cicio; nephews, Darwin Allen and wife Brenda and W.M. Carlile and wife Cora; niece, Yvetta (Carlile) King; brothers in law, Wayne Dowdy and Donald and Kitty Dowdy.

Funeral services were October 15, 2022 at the Assembly of God Church in Wilson, with burial at Bomar Point Cemetery.
