Erma Hindman

Erma Hindman, 92 of Weir died at 3 am, Sunday, July 22nd, 2007 at the home of her daughter.

She was born Feb. 24th, 1915 in the Coal Valley area in Cherokee County, KS the daughter of Dan and Barbara (Hartman) Mapes.

She attended school at Weir and graduated from the Weir High School.

On April 3rd, 1936 she was united in marriage to Herbert Eugene Hindman in Miami, OK, he preceded her in death on October 2nd 1983.

Erma was a cook for the Weir school system for twenty years.

Church membership was held at the Weir United Methodist Church. She was also a 50 year member of the Kent Chapter #117 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a daughter: Ida May Jones and husband Cleo of Weir; 4 grandchildren: Debra Humble of Weir, Cleo Alan Jones and wife Peggy of Girard, Terri Thompson and husband Mark of Pittsburg, Susie Natalini and husband Brian of Columbus; 9 great-grandchildren: Orin Humble of rural Pittsburg, Erin Hensley of Columbus, Ben, John and Julie Jones of Girard, Kelsey, Talon and Deaven Thompson of Pittsburg and Kati Natalini of Columbus; 6 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers: John and Sam Mapes, and a sister Evelyn Lair.

Funeral services will be 11 am, Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir with Chaplin Wayne Mason and Rev. Chuck Kallaus officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hosey Hill Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8 pm on Monday evening.

Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.

Memorials may be given to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or the Methodist Church in Weir.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Weir.
