Abraham fought in the Revolutionary War and he applied for a pension in 1818. He stated in his pension application that he was a weaver by trade and that he had a 12 year old son at home and four other children who worked in the country for their support. No wife was mentioned in the application. He was inducted into the military at Berks Co, PA, in 1775 and was released from active duty at Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co, PA, c 1781. Abraham received a land warrant in 1793 for his service in the Revolutionary War. In 1801, Abraham patented land in the US Military Reserve in Ohio, but there is no evidence he ever lived there. According to Montgomery (1909), Abraham resided in Monroe Co, VA on his homestead at Knob's Hill in 1834.
