His real name was Edwin Wayne, but they put it on the tombstone as Wayne Edwin, since he went by the name of Wayne or Bud, and his son was still living and went by the name of Edwin or Red.
Wayne Edwin Lyon, 60, of Luray, died Friday morning, May 12, at 2:30 a.m. at Laughlin Hospital, Kirksville.
Mr. Lyon was born January 23, 1907, at Plano, Iowa, a son of Ira and Goldie Quigley Lyon.
He was Married at Princeton, MO August 24, 1932 to Ida Thomas. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Edwin Lyon of Wyaconda and Elvin of Zion, IL; a daughter Joyce Lyon of the home; one brother Joe Lyon of Newberg, Oregon; three sisters Mrs. Iris Helmen, Mrs Irene Statler, and Mrs Maude Schroeder, all of Oregon, and seven grandchildren.
He was a farmer and county road Maintainer.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Luray Baptist church conducted by Rev. Carl Martin.
Pallbearers were Edward Parker, Arthur Brightwell, Lester Hopp, Clair McBride, Carl Gibson, and Wayne Meinhardt.
Ann Bolick was soloist and Marilyn Hales organist. Interment was in the Combs Cemetery at Luray, MO.
