My new genealogical find confirms Rachel Dimmitt was married to Nathaniel "Nathan" Hixson Jr. on 13 Nov 1820. Rachel was the daughter of James Dimmitt Jr. and Hannah Parker. The marriage bond was signed in Mason County (Vol III p 38) by James Dimmitt, Bondsman.

Nathan Hixson Jr. was 30 years her senior, and Rachel's father, James Dimmitt Jr., was his business partner and father-in-law. Further, Nathan Hixson Jr.'s son by his first wife, Anna Morris, married Rachel Dimmitt's sister, Maria Dimmitt. Thus father and son (Nathan Hixson Jr. and his son Dr. Nathan Hixson) both became the sons-in-law of James Dimmitt Jr. I located the will of Rachel's husband, which proved the fact that Rachel was Nathan Hixson Jr.'s wife at the time of the will. The will confirmed his father-in-law was James Dimmitt (Jr.).

Nathan Hixson Jr. and Rachel Dimmitt had two known children:

1. Hannah Maria Hixson

2. Mary Elizabeth Hixson

3. Possibly one other

It is possible Rachel was pregnant at the time of her husband's 1829 will: "should my wife Rachel found to be pregnant and have a child after my death, then such child be it a male or female and his or her heirs shall have equal shares..."

Rachel Dimmitt was married secondly to Simeon W. Robertson, on 29 Aug 1832. They had one son:

1. Robert Parker Robertson

It is likely Rachel is buried in the Dimmitt Family Burial ground with her family.
