Effie Bannister Cochran, 95, formerly of 1732 Old Williamston Road, Piedmont, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002.

Born in Hart County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Jasper and Othella Busby Bannister. She was predeceased by her husband, Boyd Wesley Cochran.

Mrs. Cochran was a member of Powdersville First Baptist Church. She was formerly a member of Southside Assembly of God for 52 years, and taught children's Sunday School for 49 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Norma C. Smith and husband Harold, of Piedmont, and Glenda C. Patterson and husband Preston, of Piedmont; one sister, Evelyn B. Sewell, of Greenville; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a special friend and roommate, Christine "Granny Dink" Atkins.

She was predeceased by three sons, James Wesley Cochran, Eugene H. Cochran and Thomas Randall Cochran.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.

Services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel, with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

The family is at 1730 Old Williamston Road, Piedmont, SC.
