Patrick was born in Partry, County Mayo, Ireland. Patrick and Mary had a total of eight children. In addition to the children listed below were born: Thomas C. (b. September 1869), Mamie (b. May 15, 1876 d.October 30, 1882), and George (b. June 1880).

The following obituary appeared in the Titusville Herald, Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1909:

MR. CUMMISKEY IS DEAD AT HIS HOME

Had Been a Resident of Titusville 50 Years

Patrick Cummiskey, in his 70th year, for more than half a century a resident of Titusville, passed peacefully away at his home on East Spring street at 4:30 o'clock Tuesday morning. His health had failed noticeably in the past few years, especially since the death of his wife. He was taken seriously ill on Saturday and sank rapidly, his family and friends recognizing that his condition was hopeless.

Mr. Cummiskey was born in Ireland on Jan. 24, 1840. He came to this country as a child and lived during his boyhood and young manhood in Cleveland. He came to Titusville in the winter of 1859, following Drake's successful oil well, and this city had been his home through all the changing years that followed. He was married in Cleveland in 1866 to Miss Mary Walsh of that city. She died here two years ago and his life had since been diconsolate. There are five children: Thomas Cummiskey, Bayonne, N.J.; Michael Cummiskey, Siverly; Mayme Cummiskey, Cleveland; Mabel and Goldie Cummiskey, residing at home. He also leaves one brother, Thomas Cummiskey of Minneapolis, Minn., and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Garvin of Union City and Mrs. John Maroney of Hartford, W. Va.

Mr. Cummiskey frequently held city offices. He was one of the charter members of Branch 1, C.M.B.A., the first society of its kind organized in the world, but which has since grown to millions. He was elected to different ward and city offices, at one time being county assessor in the Fourth ward. He was a man of kindly impulses, charitable in words and acts, living largely in the campanionship and affection of his own home. He will be greatly missed, especially by the two daughters, who had remained at home to cheer his declining years by their presence.

Funeral services in his remembrance will be held in St. Titus' church at 9 o'clock Thursday morning. Following a high mass of requiem the interment will be made in St. Catherine's cemetery. The C.M.B.A. will have charge of the committal services.
