Manson - Ralph M. Overbay, 70, Manson, died Friday morning in the Chelan hospital following a brief illness.

He was born Aug. 16, 1909, at Quincy, and moved with his family to Manson in 1915. He graduated from Manson High School in 1927.

Mr. Overbay attended business college in Seattle and later was employed with the State of Washington Department of Highways at North Bend. For a brief time, he was employed at the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries in Alaska and in 1933, returned to Manson and married Jeannette Boblet. He later purchased an orchard from his father. His wife preceded him in death in 1951.

In 1952, he married Charlotte Novotney at Renton. She preceded him in death in 1974. On April 26, 1975, he married Irene Smith at Manson. In 1976 he leased his orchard and retired. Mr. Overbay was a member of the Manson United Methodist Church, the Chelan Valley Lodge No. 118. F and AM and El Katif Shrine. He served as director for 21 years at Trout Inc. and was a past board member of Wenoka Federation and the Lake Chelan Reclamation District.

Survivors include his wife, at home; one son, James, Kirkland; one daughter, Roxie Killian, Auburn; his step-children, Carole Whitmire of Maple Valley, Connie Jensen of North Bend, Lee Moulton of Walla Walla and Loreen Paup of Kent; two brothers, Joe, Manson, and Charles, Bend, Ore,; a sister Nellie Gree, Redding Calif,; and 13 grnadchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
