Seth Hanks 63 died suddenly was visiting his daughter in Harristown Seth Hanks, sixty three years old whose home was three miles west of Decatur died suddenly at 9:45 o'clock Saturday night in the home of his daughter Mrs. Russell Crossman of Harristown where he was visiting. Death followed a third stroke of apoplexy. He had been in ill health for the last three years. He was born in Macon county Sept 30 1859. He lived in the county all of his life forty years of which was on the farm. He had a pleasing personality and was devoted to his home and family. His wife died 6/30/1897.
He leaves seven children, three daughters, Mrs. Louise Jenkins, Decatur, Mrs. Russell Crossman of Harristown, Mrs. Russell Garriott, Oreana, four sons Claude, Gay, Shirly, and Virgil hanks all of Decatur. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. John Bradshaw of Harristown and Mrs. Lizzie Ferguson of Meredosia, one brother H D Hanks of Springfield and a half brother, John B Hammer (John Behymer) of St Petersburg Fla. The body will be taken to the home Sunday afternoon.
