Florence W. Melchior Deisz, 79, of North Syracuse, died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a Syracuse native who had resided in North Syracuse since 1950. Retiring in 1962 from McMillan Book Co., she had previously worked 25 years for Harry L. Cook and Spence Dry Cleaners. She was a member of Elmwood Presbyterian Church and its quilting club, and was a volunteer for Aurora. Robert L. Deisz Sr., her husband, predeceased her on May 7, 1976. Surviving are four children, Lawrence J. Deisz of Atlanta, GA, Robert L. Deisz Jr. of Elma, NY, John D. Deisz of North Syracuse, and Mary O. Besig of Baldwinsville; a sister Ruth M. Melchior of Syracuse; a brother Richard J. Melchior of Elbridge; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Presbyterian Church, 1640 South Avenue, Syracuse, with burial following in North Syracuse Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse.
