Ernest E. Matson, 85, of 232 Washington St., Ligonier, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 1984 in Ligonier.

He was born June 12, 1899 in Braddock, a son of the late Edward an Marie Johnson Matson.

A member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ligonier, he was employed by Standard Steel of Latrobe for 42 years until his retirement in 1964, an was a member of the Senior Citizens Center of Laughlintown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Graham and Margaret Matson, and two brothers, Carl and George Matson.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Evelyn Ross Matson; one son, Ernest R. of Ligonier RD3; three grandchildren, three brothers, Arthur of Ligonier, Richard of Ligonier RD5 an Roy of Latrobe, and one sister, Edna Ambrose of Laughlintown.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Wolford McCracken Funeral Home Inc., 144 E. Maine St., Ligonier.

Service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 308 W. Main St., Ligonier, with the Rev. William M. Oesterlin officiating. Interment will follow in Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
