Rites Saturday For Mrs Hamilton
Mary Frances (Midge) Isgrigg Hamilton, 87, a widely known and respected lifelong resident of Greensburg, died at 3:30 a.m. today at the IOOF Nurshing Home here. Her home was at 117-1/2 North Broadway. She had been in failing health for three years and seriously ill for the past three months.
A descendant of pioneer families in Decatur County, she was born in Greensburg July 18, 1885, the daughter of William Harrison and Elvira Byrum Isgrigg.
A 1904 graduate of Greensburg High School, she was married in Greensburg Dec 14, 1907 to Frank Hamilton, who preceded her in death Feb 10, 1952. her husband served as a judge on the Indiana Appellate Court.
With a keen interest in genealogical history, Mrs Hamilton made extensive research on her and her husband's families – compiling information for a book published on the pioneering Hamilton family and for a historical sketch on the Isgrigg family.
Mrs Hamilton was a charter member of the Omega Chapter of Kappa, Kappa, Kappa, Inc.; and the Carmencita Club, which was founded in 1904.
Also, she was a member of the Lone Tree Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; was registrar of the Daughters of Foreign Wars; and a member of the Business and Professional Women's Clu and the Greensburg Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are: two sons, Frank I Hamilton, Greesburg, and William Everett Hamilton, Terre Haute; a brother, Isaac J Isgrigg, Pontiac, Mich.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home here. Officiating will be the Rev William Clemson, pastor of the Greensburg Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery.
