Ellis W. "Bud" Greene, 83, a longtime resident of the Hillsboro community, died Wednesday morning, November 18, 2020, with family at his son's home in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Private Cremation Rites were held at the Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove.

ELLIS WILFRED GREENE was born March 15, 1937, in Banks, Oregon, the son of the late Wilfred A. "Bill" Greene and Dora M. (Vanderzanden) Greene. He was raised in the Verboort community and attended Visitation Parochial School, graduating with the High School Class of 1955.

He joined the United States Navy, on January 11, 1956, in Forest Grove, Oregon. Bud served for two years, until receiving his honorable discharge on November 9, 1957, with the rank of Seaman.

Bud was united in marriage to Darlene M. Jansen on October 10, 1959, at Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort. They celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary this past October. Following their marriage, they resided in the Verboort community until 1989, when they built their home in the Hillsboro community.

He worked for Tektronix, Inc. in Beaverton in the shipping and receiving department for forty-five years, until he retired in 2008.

Bud was lifelong member of the Catholic Church. While living in Verboort, he was an active member of Visitation Parish. After moving to Hillsboro, he became a member of St. Matthew Parish. He was a charter-member of the Forest Grove Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. # 2440; a member of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and a member of Ducks Unlimited.

He was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting with his son, daughter, grandsons and many friends. Bud and Darlene loved to spend time with family and friends at their place in Twin Rocks. He enjoyed summers at the Oregon coast fishing, crabbing and digging clams. He planted a garden every year and shared the bounty with everyone. He was a fan of the San Francisco Giants and attended many World Series games and spring trainings in Arizona. Bud and his Mai Tai's will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dora Greene; his two sisters, Donalee Greene and Dorothy Sherratt and his two brothers, Richard "Dick" Greene and Alan Greene.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Greene, of Hillsboro, Oregon; his five children and their spouses, Julie Murphy, of Vancouver, Washington; Melinda "Mindy" and Thomas Wolfe, of Bend, Oregon; Donald and Kelly Greene, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Cheryl "Cherie" Greene, of Sherwood, Oregon; Lisa and Eric Rushing, of Molalla, Oregon, and his sister, Judith "Judy" Walker, of Estacada, Oregon.

Also surviving are his eight grandchildren and their spouses, Amanda Murphy and Paul Cary; Jessica Wolfe; Matthew Wolfe; Antonio and Larissa Greene; Thomas Greene; Nicholas and Jamie Banta; Tanner and Kara Banta and Kayla and Conners McMenamin; his four great-grandchildren, Hunter and Emmitt Greene; Kerla Greene and Nash Banta and many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 1650 N.W. Naito Parkway, Portland, Oregon 97209, in his memory.
