Jeremiah Glenn Bell, the son of James Montgomery Bell and the former Mary Reese Glenn, was named for his maternal grandfather, Jeremiah Glenn and known by family & friends as, J. Glenn Bell.

On July 30th 1855, J. Glenn Bell married Miss Matilda K. Edmonds of Madison, Mississippi; with whom he had six children.

After Matilda died in 1892, J. Glenn Bell married Mrs. Samuella Cathryn [Tipton] Richey, widow of E. G. Richey, on February 1st 1899 in Starkville. She was the daughter of Shadrach Samuel Tipton and the former Fidelia Jane Adams.
