Joan Ellen (Adams) Hartley, Age 83, of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in Dallas, Texas, with her loving son and daughter-in-law by her side. She was born on May 6, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, to George Jewett and Lillie Marie Adams.

Joan was the second oldest of four children in the Adams family. She grew up in Grand Prairie's Pecan Acres neighborhood and graduated from Grand Prairie High School. She excelled in her studies and was 1st Chair Clarinet. After high school, she attended the University of Texas at Austin and lived in the Scottish Rite Women's Dormitory. She graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Education with Honors, one of her proudest and happiest memories, as was the birth of her son, Robert Paul. Early on, she developed a strong and abiding Faith and attended church regularly. Despite many struggles in her life, "Joanie" will always be remembered for her kind heart, the mischievous twinkle in her eyes, and her big, beautiful smile.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Robert Paul Hartley and daughter-in-law Kristina (Krissi) of Arlington; three grandchildren, Robert Paul Hartley, Jr. of Ozarks area, Missouri, Justin Wayne Hartley of Kerrville, and Dillon Masterson of Perrin; older sister, Barbara Adams Matthews and husband Walter of Dallas; younger brother, Robert Parker Adams and wife Jessie of Melbourne, Florida; aunt, Dorothy "Dot" Garner and nephew, John Garner of Arlington; ex-husband, Donald "Don" Wayne Hartley of Conroe; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, her younger brother, George "Jim" Jewett Adams, Jr., and sister-in-law Faith Ann Adams, all of Grand Prairie.

The family would also like to extend their most heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at The Villa at Mountain View in Dallas who kindly cared for Joan in the months and days leading up to her death.
