OBIT:
MRS. ELIZA ANN MCCLISH
Eliza Ann, daughter of Jacob and Magdalena Myers was born near Tiffin, Seneca Co., Ohio, March 12, 1839, and died at her home near Mendon, August 25, 1916; aged 77 years, 5 months, 13 days. She was married to Geo. C. McClish on June 23 1857. Ten children came to bless their union, the youngest, Freddie, dying in infancy; nine left the home roof to establish homes of their own; seven remain to mourn the mother's loss; two, Samuel and Mrs. Ella Happle (Happel) having passed to the great beyond.
On June 14, 1862, she, with her husband and little family came from Illinois and located on the farm where they since resided. She has seen the surrounding country change from a wilderness to fertile farms.
Hers was a beautiful life ever serving her family, giving advice and aid in her children's homes until the past few years it became necessary for the children to return some of the services owing to her age and poor health, and she was the recipient of the most devoted care from her children. She was confined to her bed the past few weeks and patiently awaited the end of a long life of loving service.
She is survived by a sorrowing husband, three sons-John, George D. and William; four daughters--Mrs. Dora Stienbarger, Mrs. Alice Iobe, Mrs. Etta Rice, Mrs. Myrtle Metty. All of whom live near the old home. She also leaves twenty-two grandchildren, ten great grand children, one great great grandchild, one brother, one sister, several half brothers and sisters.
The funeral was conducted at the Wakeshma church on Sunday afternoon, August 27, by Rev. G. E. Wright, burial in the Beard cemetery.
