Sylvia Griego, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, the day before her 88th birthday, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her mother, Eloisa Griego, father, Jesús Griego, sisters, Mary Martínez and Ceceilia and brothers, Robert Griego, Tom Griego and Sam Griego.
Sylvia is survived by sister, Mable Sisneros, nieces, Debbie Sisneros "Negra" and Diane Montaño, nephews, Edward Sisneros Sr., Edward Sisneros Jr., Landon Ferguson Sisneros, Steven García Sisneros and Jesse Griego, sister-in-law, Lena Griego, caretaker, LeAnn Lucero (who took great care of her until her final days), also many other nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and neighbors.
Sylvia was a lifelong resident of Alameda, New Mexico in grandma Tulles' house. Sylvia attended Alameda Public Schools from grades 1 thru 8, she graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School. After high school she attended Western School and took a secretarial course.
Sylvia had three jobs in her lifetime, Skeggs Drugs for two years, The Credit Bureau of Albuquerque for 33 years and her most important job was taking care of her parents, Jesus and Eloisa.
Sylvia loved to shop, travel, eating at Chick Fil A where they knew her by her first name, Rudy's BBQ on Coors where they not only knew her by name but they considered her part of the family. Sylvia also loved to go on vacation every year with Mae and the family to Los Angeles, San Diego and Denver.
Sylvia kept a journal of everyday life. She would write what she did that day, what she ate, prayers for her family and friends, and she would end each daily entry with "Good night Jesus, Mary, Joseph and all the heavenly saints". Sylvia would always make special letters on her typewriter and she would write poetry and enter it in poetry contests.
Sylvia was a devoted Catholic, her love for the Lord Jesus Christ was amazing. Sylvia had no fear of anything because of her love for God. Sylvia attended daily mass and would do prayer adoration for hours, throughout the day.
Sylvia loved all of her family. Her Deborah Ann was her everything. They had a special bond and connection that was amazing.
Sylvia is now free and roaming Heaven, so happy and at peace with our Lord Jesus Christ and her family. They got to spend her birthday with her in Heaven!!
