Duane was born on August 26, 1948, in Springfield, the son of Harold J. and Wilma Wight Brown. He married Catherine "Cathy" Bumpus on September 6, 1969, at St. Agnes in Springfield; she preceded him in death in 2008.
Duane was a graduate of Griffin High School and then St. Louis University. He earned his doctorate degree from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. He and Cathy established his podiatry practice, Brown Podiatric Medical Centre. Most recently, Duane was practicing at Prairie Podiatry. Duane loved his patients, and his patients loved him.
Duane was very health conscious and focused on his nutrition and working out. He also enjoyed summers at Moose Lake Resort in Minnesota, golfing, fishing, landscaping, gardening, and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his many accomplishments in the medical field, he built one of the first geodesic dome homes in the Midwest. Duane was a member of the Island Bay Yacht Club, Springfield Motor Boat Club, and the American Podiatric Medical Association.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Greg and Alan Brown.
Duane was an incredible friend, teacher, role model, surgeon, neighbor, father, partner, husband, and papa. He taught us the meaning of work hard/play hard and to do both with passion and love.
Private family burial will be held at West Grove Cemetery in Thayer.
