Funeral services for Mr. Gene Willie Barber will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Bentley United Pentecostal Church, with Reverend Bruce Maxwell officiating.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

Mr. Barber, 82, of Bentley, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, LA.

Gene was a graduate of Winnfield High School.

He was a proud U. S. Army Veteran on active duty during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. He transitioned to the U. S. Army Reserves where he retired as a Command Sergeant Major E-9.

He was a member of Bentley United Pentecostal Church since 1973. Gene was the President, Owner and Operator of Gene's Jiffy Print since 1980, where along the way he helped many people start new businesses. He always conducted himself and operated his business from a Christian platform. In his leisure he loved being on his farm tending to his cows and operating heavy equipment. In his spare time, he enjoyed being a constable for Grant Parish. He also loved building homes in his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas David Barber; and his parents, John and Lillian Barber;

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty-nine years, Katherine Cameron Barber of Bentley; one son, John Eugene Barber, and his wife, Kim, of Bentley; two daughters, Grace Suzanne Mucha, and her husband, Jack, of Pollock and Gina Robertson, and her husband, Dewayne, of Tioga; one sister, Sue Kaeser, and her husband, John, of Mobile, Alabama; six grandchildren, Kayla Soileau, and husband, Cade, Megan Pendergrass, and husband, Tony, Cole Robertson, Hunter Mucha, Luke Mucha, and Victoria Barber; and four great grandchildren, Camille Soileau, Graham Soileau, Jackson Pendergrass, and Caleb Pendergrass.

A time of visitation will be held at Bentley United Pentecostal Church, on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Cade Soileau, Tony Pendergrass, Hunter Mucha, Luke Mucha, Jackson Pendergrass, and Caleb Pendergrass.
