Typhoid Aged 38 Yrs. 4 Mos. 29 Ds. Died Dec. 11, 1902.

Imler, Tom; Bedford County Pennsylvania Cemeteries Volume 5 pg. 46;
James W. Mickey 7/12/1864 - 12/11/1902.
Imler calculated dates and did not give the age at death which was usually carved on memorials. He often listed the stones in order and the next entry is James's wife, Jennie (Mickey) Milligan 1870-1958. Near them is their daughter, Mildred (Mickey) Teeter, 11/10/1901-11/25/1943.

He is the son of George and Lucinda Mickey.

James left a young family of 7 inluding a 1 year old child. His daughter, Sarah Lillian Mickey, was adopted by Cyrus Harbaugh and his wife. Cyrus and his wife have memorials in Mount Union, Lovely Bedford County PA. George W. Mickey born in 1870 also has a memorial in Mount Union, Lovely, and he may be James brother.

Two weeks before he died there was a brief note under "Point" in the Bedford Gazette Dec. ? that the James Mickey family was improving. The next brief note Bedford Gazette Dec. 9, pg. 4 under "Point" was "James Mickey is much worse with poor hopes of recovery."
In the December 19th edition of the Bedford Gazette for 1902 his death was reported. It was also reported in the Jan. 9, 1903 edition of the Bedford Gazette where the deaths for the year in Bedford are given.
Point-James Mickey Age 38, Dec. 11.

James wife was Jennie Weber with their marriage Dec. 20, 1888 at Alum Bank (Pleasantville) performed by Rev. C. F. Floto. Her parents were listed as James M. Weber and her mother as deceased. Her birth date is recorded in Center Lutheran Church in Fishertown as Mary V. Weber (Mary Virginia). She used the name Jennie. With the death of her husband Jennie would have been in a difficult situation with 7 young children to care for and support. Often families were separated. In 1910 she is living in Johnstown Pennsylvania with 2 of her children, [George] Ward and Mildred. Her oldest daughter, Cora, at age 19 died of TB the year before in 1909.
