York - Diane Cynthia (Eichelberger) Tamarkin, 78, died peacefully on Saturday Feb. 5th at York Hospital. Born in York on October 18, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Eichelberger and Hester Senft (Yinger).

She graduated from Central York High School in 1961, and received her Bachelors of Education from Ursinus College in 1965. She began teaching Physical Education after graduation, but spent most of her career as a merchandise buyer in the retail industry with Bon Ton department stores. She loved gardening and won awards with many entries to the York Fair and gardening magazine competitions. She was a talented artist creating beautiful stained glass pieces. She and her husband were avid RVer's and were members of the "Bounders United" and "Bounders of America" organizations traveling the country visiting all 49 continental US states and all but one Canadian Province.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years Dr. Michael Tamarkin, Sister Gwen Bufkin, 3 sons Addison (Shawn) Edwards, Heath Edwards and Frank Tamarkin, 2 daughters Debbie Siton and Susan Cole, and 10 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her older brother Roland Eichelberger.

Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of a private graveside service.
