Born November 10, 1915 to F. M. "Pete" and Dora Ratcliff Adams in Mason, she was blessed with a twin sister, Thelma Rogers, known as "Biggen," of Welty.
She attended Mason School and loved playing basketball. She and Tony W. Adams married October 15, 1938 by the Okfuskee County judge. From that time forward, Tony and Velma were full of love and and life, going to church, working on the farm, raising cattle, gardening and enjoying each other's company. Their first first love was serving the Lord at the Freewill Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Tony on May 12, 2005.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris and Allen Jones of Minco; her son, Bobby Adams and wife, Kay of Okemah; five grandchildren, Burton Jones, Tonya Jones, Jay Jones, Brenda Burden and Robert Adams; twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; twin sister, Thelma Rogers of Welty; one other sister, Atha Kelton of Kelleyville and sisters-in-law Sherry Posey and Lorene Harper.
Mrs. Adams health was failing the last few years and she went to live her daughter, Doris, of Minco.
Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons. Interment was at Welty Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma.
