The 1870 census lists Perry and Almeda living in Spencer, Clay County, Iowa where they farmed.
By the 1880 census the family of Perry and Almeda, children Bertie, Elden and Harlow, were all living in Bridgewater, Clay, Iowa where Perry was a farmer.
In about 1886 they lost a daughter, Myrtle, at a very young age who is buried in Ruthven, Iowa.
During the 1910 census Almeda and Perry were living on Carpentharia Road in San Juan road, San Benito County.
The 1920 census lists the family, Perry aged 73 and Almeda aged 70, and children Harlow and his wife Flora, and grandchildren Irwin, Edith and Edna living in Turlock.

Perry Alger, 81, Dies In Denair On Sunday, Set Funeral For Today
Denair, Stanislaus Co., Sept 27 - Perry Alger, 81, resident of California for the past 33 years, died Sunday at the home of his son. J [H]. I. Alger of Denair. Alger was a native of Vermont.
For may years Alger lived at Aramo and then divided his time between Santa Cruz and Denair.
He is survived by two sons, Eldon Alger of San Francisco and Harlow of Denair; one daughter Alice Eaton of Merced; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock from Denair's Friend's church with Rev A M Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the Denair cemetery under the direction of the Geckler funeral home.
