Virgil N. Cuvelier, 77, of Ravenwood Health Care Center, formerly of the Parkersburg and Aplington areas, died at the care center Monday, May 23, of natural causes; services 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. 266-7525, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls; visitation 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until services Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Virgil N. Cuvelier, 77, of Ravenwood Health Care Center, formerly of Parkersburg and Aplington, died at the care ceneter Monday, May 23, of natural causes. He was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Hansell, son of John and Lulu Payne Cuvelier. He married Catherine C. Hartema on Oct. 11, 1935. She died in 1978. He married Ann M. Luhring on Dec. 22, 1979, in Aplington. Mr. Cuvelier was a farmer and a salesman for Golden Sun Feeds. Survived by: his wife; four sons, Duane of Waterloo, La Verne of Waukon, Keith of Aplington and Darwin of Magna, Utah; two daughters, Sandra Ohrt of Cedar Falls and Bonnie Frerichs of Clear Lake; three stepsons, Sgt. Timothy Luhring of Washington state, Rodney Luhring of Latimer and Sgt. Jerry Luhring of England; two stepdaughters, Marsha Van Essen of Ontario, Canada, and Karma Funk of Sheldon; 28 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clem of Dumont and Kenneth of Nederland, Texas; and two sisters, Verda DeBurh of Parkersburg and Mae Turner of Shell Rock. Preceded in death by: a son, Jerold; three infant children; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Funnell; and six brothers, Ernest, Elmer, Eugene, John, Jake and Sam. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-School Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until services Thursday at the funeral home.
