Glen Clinkenbeard, age 76 of Livonia, Missouri died on Tuesday June 10, 2003 at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville, Missouri.
Glen was born on September 16, 1926 in Putnam County near Mendota, the son of Joe and Lola (Brown) Clinkenbeard. On May 21, 1945 Glen was united in marriage to Maxine Cullum in Madison, Wisconsin, she survives.
Glen accepted the Lord at an early age and was an actively involved member of the Mount Herman Church in Chariton, Missouri his entire life. Glen attended Putnam County rural schools graduating from the Livonia High School with the class of 1943. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII doing overseas duty along the China coast. After retirement Glen and Maxine spent their winters in Arizona which they enjoyed very much. Glen had a great love for music spending many hours singing and playing his guitar and mandolin, sharing with family and friends. He served on the Putnam County Care Center Board of Directors from its inception through 1994.
Glen is survived by his wife Maxine of Livonia; his children, Mitzie Knight and her husband Gary of Unionville, Missouri, Gary Clinkenbeard and his wife Beth of Vienna, Missouri, Dixie Cooley and her husband Jack of Lucerne and Terri Sanchez and her husband Greg of Atlanta, Georgia; his grandchildren, David Crossgrove and his wife Sara of Livonia, Angie Cool and her husband Tim of Newtown, Brad Knight and his wife Brenda of Unionville, Bruce Knight and his wife Carol, Tiffany Martinez and her husband Al, Ami Hartwig and her husband Danny all of Kansas City, Leslie Ream and her husband Brad of Livonia, Laura Patton and her husband Bill of Vienna, Rachel Bullock of Vienna, Janelle Helper and her husband JOhn of Winigan, Jamie Lynch and her husband Brandon of Des Moines, Bryan Powell and his wife Melissa of Mannheim, Germany, Kyle Powell of Ft. Stewart, Georgia - currently serving in Iraq, Sheldon Sanchez and Bethany Sanchez, both of Atlanta, Georgia along with his great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Keenan and Kameron Cool, Eron, Dillon and Brennon Crossgrove, Kasey Knight, Macey, and Jamie Mullenix, Jackson Hartwig, Trey, Kelsie and Haiden Ream, Joey, Jaclyn and Judson Hepler, Madelyn Lynch, Camron Powell and Hunter Powell. His sister, Eileen Whitacre of Glenwood, MO, his brother-in-law Joe Cullum and wife Wilma of Scottsdale, Arizona and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister in infancy and a brother-in-law, Richard Whitacre.
Funeral services will be held Friday June 13, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Luscan Funeral Home in Unionville, Misouri. Pastor Gene Weece and Junior Baldwin will officiate. Music will be provided by the Friends of Mt. Hermon Church, and his grandchildren accompanied by Marjorie Traxler.
Burial will be in the Mt. Hermon Church Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be his grandsons, David Crossgrove, Tim Cool, Al Martinez, Danny Hartwig, Brad Ream, John Hepler, Brandon Lynch and Sheldon Sanchez.
Honorary bearers will be Brad Knight, Bruce Knight, Bryan Powell, Kyle Powell, Bill Patton and Travis Bruce.
