The daughter of Joe E. and Lola Jane (Brown) Clinkenbeard, she was born in rural Chariton, Missouri on July 4, 1920. On November 30, 1938 at Mt. Hermon United Brethren in Christ Church in Chariton, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Charles Richard Whitacre and to this union five children were born, Gary, Dixie Jo, 1 infant son, Ronnie and Karen.
Survivors include her children, Ron Whitacre of Glenwood, Missouri and Karen Watkins and husband, Dr. David Watkins of Midland, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Michael Whitacre and wife, Mandy of St. Peters, Missouri, Lydia, Laura and Andrew Whitacre all of Glenwood, Missouri, Jessi Watkins of Dallas, Texas, Kate Watkins of Ft. Worth, Texas and Luke Watkins of Orlando, Florida; 2 great grandchildren, Maxwell and Evie Whitacre of St. Peters, Missouri; other family members and many good friends.
Eileen is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Richard Whitacre on August 15, 2000; 1 son, Gary Whitacre, 1 daughter, Dixie Jo Whitacre; 1 infant son and 1 brother, Glen Clinkenbeard.
Eileen was a 46-year member of the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri and was an active member as long as her health permitted. She worked for 19 years at Tri-County Electric in Lancaster, Missouri. She was an avid gardener, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was born on Independence Day and her life will continue to be celebrated.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith officiating. Music will be provided by pianist, Jane Watkins. Pallbearers will be David Mullins, John Mullins, Rick Baughman, Gary Bailey, Gary Knight, and Jack Cooley. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Clinkenbeard and Bob Whitacre. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 between the hours of 6-8:00 p.m. Memorials have been established for Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church or Arni Cemetery. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.
