Sallie Skains, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

Services will be 9:30 am Friday, June 17, 2022 at Greater Waco Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Gerald McKelroy officiating. Burial will be at Mount Antioch Cemetery near Mount Calm, Texas.

Visitation will be 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Greater Waco Baptist Church.

Sallie was born June 22, 1932 in Navarro County, Texas to Herbert and Annie (Brazelton) Key. She graduated from Frost High School Class of 1951. She married Donald Skains on May 11, 1952. She received her LVN license from MCC in 1986 and worked for a local nursing home until retiring. She and her husband owned Don Skains Electric Co. for many years. She was a member of Bellmead Calvary Baptist Church, now known as Greater Waco Baptist Church, where she served for many years, in the nursery, teaching Sunday School and working in the Administration office. Sallie enjoyed traveling and reading her Bible, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Donald Skains in 2018; her children, Kerry Skains Fest and Roger Skains; and her siblings, Jean Rejeck and Rudy Key.

Survivors include her children, Belynda Mize and her husband, Darrel, Timothy Skains, Theda Skains and Nolan Skains and his wife Mindy; her grandchildren, Lance, Timothy Jr., Hayden, Kacey, Nicole, Logan, Braeden, Nick, Chad, Shannon, Shane and Miranda; many great-grandchildren; special niece, Kathy; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Royal Manor Nursing Home Staff, especially Irene and Scott & White Hospice Staff, especially Jennifer and Chaplain Larry.
