Homer Butcher Jr., age 96, of Portland passed away Saturday morning August 20, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Bryant on June 8, 1926 the son of Homer O. and Myrtle (Crabill) Butcher Sr. He was married on August 10, 1946 to Lilly Boolman and she passed away on October 30, 2017. Homer graduated from Bryant High School and served in the US Army from 1945-1947. He had worked at Sheller-Globe, Naas Foods and City of Portland. Homer enjoyed walking at the wetlands, state parks and of course here in Portland. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going for rides to see the country side and was a IU fan. He loved life, was a very kind and gentle man and will be missed by many.

Homer is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lilly, two sons Larry and Terry Butcher, and eleven siblings Dorwin, Jay, Joe, Dave, Max and Jack Butcher, Iva Brotherton, Lillia Shepherd, Katie Marchet, Francis Goss, Lois Ilene Moore.

Funeral services will be Thursday August 25, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Schmit presiding. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bryant. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Everheart Hospice.
