Ann "Nancy" Washington Burwell Spotswood (1779-1822) married in Essex County, Va. in 1797, Baldwin Taliaferro (1776-c1840). They settled in Williamson County, Tenn. Nine children were Alexander Spotswood (c1799-post1850); Henrietta B. (c1803-c28?) who married John Walker (-c1828?); Anne Maria (1806-86); Mary Augustina (c1810-ante1860) who married John A. Taliaferro (c1802-62); Harriet Dade (c1817-92) who married Jacob Rieger Hogan (1812-88); Lucy Baldwin (c1817-) who married Thomas P. Johnson (c1806-); Elizabeth Washington (c1819-) who married (1) John Stewart/Steuart, and (2) Col. John Taylor; Verlinda J. (c1821-) who married John S. Bumpass (c1819-); and Baldwin Taliaferro, Jr. (c1823-)(unm).


Ann Washington Burwell Spotswood's mother was Elizabeth Washington (1749-1814) who married in 1769, Brigadier General Alexander Spotswood (1746/7-1818), son of John (-1758) and Mary Dandridge Spotswood, of Spotsylvania County, Va. He served in the Revolution. He inherited c1772, 150,000 acres in Virginia from his grandfather Gov. Alexander Spotswood. Thirteen children were attorney Alexander Elliott (1769-1843) who was county judge in Barren Co., Ky. and married (1) his second cousin Elizabeth Alexander Lewis (c1772-c1820/23); Com. John Augustine Washington (USN)(1771-1808)(dsp); Robert (1772); Ann (1773-74); Mary Randolph (1775-1803) who married in 1791, Brig. General Francis Taliaferro Brooke (1764-1851), who lived at St. Julien near Fredericksburg, Va. and was speaker of the Virginia Senate in 1804 and a judge on the Court of Appeals, 1811-51; Elizabeth Jane (1777); Ann "Nancy" Washington Burwell (1779-1822); Elizabeth Butler (1781-1805)(dsp); Lt. George Augustine Washington (1783-1844); William Lafayette (1786); Henrietta Brayne (1786-1860) who married in 1806, her first cousin, Bushrod Washington (1785-1831); Martha Ann Maria (1790-1826)(unm); and William Lawrence McCarty Spotswood (1791-1871) who married in 1822, Catherine Anne Jones (-c1835) and lived at Sedley Lodge, in Orange Co., Va.
