Kathy, the daughter of Hugh and Opal (Durst) Fisher, was born on September 10, 1945, in Bement, Illinois. She graduated from Bement High School in 1963.
Kathy married Doug Carpenter on August 25, 1963, in Bement, Illinois. Throughout her life, Kathy worked as a legal secretary and an office manager. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Kathy was an animal lover and was lovingly nicknamed "The Cat Lady" due to her affinity for cats. She enjoyed her video poker and eating out with her husband. Kathy and Doug also loved to travel, and Kathy especially liked cruises and visiting Mexico and the Bahamas.
Surviving are her husband, Doug Carpenter of Newton; her children, Keri Carpenter (Leonard Weiss) of Coralville, Lindsey (Jeremy) Samson of Baxter, Shane (Kari) Carpenter of Urbandale, and Jeremy (Cece) Carpenter of Jumping Branch, West Virginia; grandchildren, Chris Hasselbrink, Eliya Hasselbrink, Jessi Carpenter, Jake Carpenter, Caden Carpenter, Lexi Samson, Carter Samson, and Cody Samson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Joan Auth and Shirley Schenck.
