Hortencia Gardea was born on June 23, 1944 in Chihuahua, Mexico. She married Moncerrate Almanza in Chihuahua on August 8, 1962. The family moved to Altus, Oklahoma and Hortencia worked primarily as a homemaker. She was a member of the Templo Samaria and enjoyed cooking and crocheting.
Hortencia was preceded in death by her mother, Concepcion Gardea; her grandfather, Francisco Gardea; a son, Otoniel "Tony" Almanza; two great grandchildren; a sister; and a brother.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Moncerrate; six children, Gumaro Almanza and wife, Aida, Victoria Baeza and husband, Eddie, Leo Almanza, Maria Chapa and husband, Paul, Moncerrate Almanza, Jr., and Sandra Tran and wife, Dung; 23 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; five sisters; three brothers; and many other nieces and nephews.
