Benjamin B. Bell, 74, formerly of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2001, at the Denver Health Medical Center. Ben was born November 14, 1926, in Rock Island, to Ben A. and Hattie (Beverlin) Bell. Ben graduated from Rock Island High School in 1944 and attended St. Ambrose College and Augustana College. He was an Eagle Scout, DeMolay, Mason, and Cub Scout Master. He played fast-pitch softball for McKay Plumbing and later became a softball coach. He was also a Sunday School teacher at South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island. Ben worked for the Post Office before moving into sales at Gard Pontiac-Cadillac, then Mills Chevrolet. He relocated to Denver in 1970 and owned Havana RV. Ben had a great appreciation for nature, history, politics, fishing, hunting, gardening, singing, piano, shooting picks, and more than anything - golf. Ben was a great story-teller, historian, had an entertaining personality and a great sense of humor.
