New London, NH-Barbara Elizabeth (Templin) Littlefield, 75 years old of Pleasant Street, New London, NH died October 30, 2005 at home with her family.

She was born in Newport, TN July 28, 1930 the daughter of Caster William Templin and Mamie Fred (Peerman) Templin. She and Lloyd H. Littlefield were married on June 14, 1952. They have two children and two granddaughters. Barbara was a loving wife and mother. She loved to host family gatherings in her home especially during holidays. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her extended family. Barbara was an avid reader and volunteered at Tracy Memorial Library. She was a sports enthusiast and always cheered for her favorite teams: the Tennessee Vols, the New England Patriots, and the Boston Red Sox.

Barbara graduated from Alcoa High School in Alcoa, TN and earned a bachelor's degree in 1952 from the University of TN. She earned a Master of Education degree in 1972 from the Salisbury State College in Salisbury, MD.

Her long teaching career included teaching Second Grade 1954-1955 at Alcoa, TN; Nursery School 1959-1960 in New London and Andover, NH; reading 1960-1965 at Proctor Academy in Andover, NH; children with learning disabilities 1973-1977 in Sussex County, DE; children with learning disabilities 1977-1982 at Kearsarge Elementary School in New London, NH; and Learning Skills 1982-1992 at Proctor Academy in Andover, NH.

She was a member of New London's earliest organization, the Pleasant Street Helpers. She was a member and Co-chairperson of NH Association of Family Community Education; president of the Sussex County Delaware Origination of Reading; member of the Friends of Colby-Sawyer College Library; member of the Friends of the Tracy Memorial Library, New London Historical Society; and member of the NH School Food Service Association. She was a member and held various offices in the New London First Baptist Church including Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Christian Education Committee and Children's Works Chairperson.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, George W. Templin of Greenville, TN.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Lloyd Henry Littlefield of New London, NH; a son and daughter-in-law, David Bennett Littlefield and Lynn Elizabeth (Rumbley) Littlefield and their two daughters, Kathryn Anna Littlefield and Ruth Taylor Littlefield of Concord, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Anna Littlefield and Bob Pugliese of New London, NH; a sister, Emma Ruth (Templin) Cox of Murfreesboro, TN and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH. A memorial service of celebration will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at The First Baptist Church of New London, NH.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association, P.O. Box 2209, New London, NH 03257 or the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Executive Plaza III, 11350 McCormick Road, Suite 906, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.
