Gospel preacher. John Rawlins, along with his father, and a cousin, William "Billie" Rawlins helped to start what was probably the first congregation of Churches of Christ in Lancaster, Dallas County, Texas. [Moved to Texas in 1840 settling first in Dallas County].

John Martin Rawlins, a minister, helped organize a number of Christian Church and was closely associated with Randolph Clark and Addison Clark, co-founders of the Add-Ran College at Thorp Springs according to the Rawlins family history.
