Chelan - Ruth E Bigelow, 83, Chelan, died Wednesday evening at Lake Chelan Community Hospital.

She was born March 26, 1897, at Plaza, moved to Chelan with her family in 1899, and attended school on Howard Flat.

On Feb. 23, 1915, she married Frank Bigelow at Waterville. They made their home near Chelan, where they were engaged in farming. In about 1940, they moved to Chelan.

Mr. Bigelow preceded her in death in November, 1969.

Mrs. Bigelow was a member of the Cascade Rebekahs and the Past Noble Grands.

Survivors include two sons, Frank, Okanogan, and Willis, Chelan; two daughters, Harrietta Zachary, Chelan, and Lena Long, Olympia; two step-daughters, Marie Harris, Chelan, and Norma DePonty, Sacramento, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan, is in charge of arrangements.

Harrietta L. "Babe" Zachary, 86, of Chelan, died Friday, July 18, 2008, at Lake Chelan Community Hospital.

She had lived in Chelan for 36 years. She was a caregiver and worked at the Apple Inn Motel for 22 years.

Survivors include her son, Edward Zachary of Portland, Ore.; her brother, Bill Bigelow of Chelan; and her sister, Lena Long of San Marcos, Calif.

A tribute service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Chelan Senior Center, the Rev. Frank Needles officiating. Private interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Arrangements are by Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
