Allen A. Cragle, 78, of Nescopeck concluded his journey in this life at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, in the ICU at Berwick Hospital Center.
Allen was born in Pond Hill, Feb. 5, 1929, a son of the late Walter S. and Blanche M. Hontz Cragle. He joined Wise Potato Chips in 1957, and retired in 1994. Prior to that he was employed at Berwick Weaving and Berwick Industries.
A member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Pond Hill, he served on the church's consistory since the 1970s and also as its president. He enjoyed gardening and his trains.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Becca Cragle; brothers: James, Walter and Woodrow Cragle; sisters: Margaret "Peg" Peake; Gladys Walk; and Miriam Welliver.
He will be remembered by his wife of 52 years, the former Shirley Kishbaugh; three sons: David Cragle, Nescopeck; Gary Cragle and wife, Susan, Berwick; Jeffrey Cragle, Berwick; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two brothers: Ralph Cragle and wife, Mary, Lime Ridge; twin, Donald Cragle, Berwick; three sisters: Minnie Kishbaugh and husband, Richard, Albuquerque, N.M.; Violet Kraus, Grand Forks, N.D.; Naomi "Diane" Ricci, Baton Rouge, La.; nieces and nephews and their families. "Forever in our hearts."
Entrusted to the care of the Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck, where services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Chad Hebrink, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Berwick, presiding. He will be laid to rest in Pine Grove Cemetery, Market Street, Berwick. Calling hours will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
