Roy was born on February 27, 1942, in Winfield, AL to James D. and Nora Abbott. He played football and baseball and loved sports. He attended Alma College and joined the Army.

He loved his Military Service. He married the love of his life, Eva Abbott in El Paso, TX in 1965. Together they had two children and went on to enjoy 57 years.

Roy retired from the El Paso Fire Department, served as a New Mexico Veterans Service Officer, and retired from the State of Nebraska Dept. of Revenue. He and Eva also enjoyed business ownership, owning multiple restaurants and bars.

Roy was a passionate community volunteer. He was proud to have served on the National Selective Service Board and as a Red Cross Volunteer. He was a Mason, Rotary Member, and active in local politics.

Roy had a contagious spirit, he enjoyed life and told wonderful stories.

He leaves behind his wife, Eva Abbott; children, Nicole Neesen and her husband Brian, and Terrell "T.C." Abbott and his wife Lisa; and grandchildren, Nicholas and Erica Neesen, and Jack and Sawyer Abbott.

Memorial Service to be scheduled at Omaha National Cemetary in mid-September.
